The default strategy for such protests has been the same for decades: escalate the violence and property damage until there's a police response — then scream “police brutality”. The objective is to garner support from the masses, on the basis that the police state needs to be over thrown. Only a small fraction of the protesters need to be violent, or vandals — the rest provide cover, as passive human shields.

Yeah, Van Jones wants violence so he can claim oppression by Mayor Bloomberg. Leftists the World over will be suitably appalled.
