This is quite disturbing, in many ways tragic news for our nation.

I disagree. Those who get elected to powerful political positions become embroiled in the role, where half the country wants them dead, and the other half want them to pull a rabbit out of their hat.

Then there are the 'rules', and the 'investigations', and the 'hearings'.

Sarah can do so much more by helping other conservative candidates get elected, than she could as just one person with the responsibility for raising a ship that is full of holes and lying on the bottom.

Let some Washington insider who is used to playing the game take the office, and have Sarah use the media to pressure him/her and their administration into doing the RIGHT THING, once again.

Remember, the real heroes in a battle are the soldiers, not the general.

I’m not happy about this.

Agree, though I respect Sarah's decision. The calculation was very well-considered, I believe, and 2012 might be just a tiny bit premature, given the MSM demonization and the PDS'ers hysterical hand-wringing.

My only consolation is the realization that Sarah Palin is not abandoning the fight. She has decided that 2012 was not her time, and she might be right.

It will be interesting to see what influence Sarah and her supporters can exert in the 2012 elections. Their effect on the 2010 elections was obvious and profound. The more influence, the better.

However, I do expect Sarah to run for President sometime relatively soon, either in 2016 or 2020, depending on whether 0bama is re-elected or not. Indeed, if Sarah Palin never has a chance to serve as President of the United States, I believe that will be a historical tragedy which will accrue to the detriment of the Republic.

There is still time to stop the tragedy from happening. I think we Palin supporters in our millions should gather outside her house in Wasilla and beg her to contest. She’s the only one who can save us.
