Desperate rationalization? I continue to be astounded that anyone who professes even a modest admiration for Sarah Palin gets painted with the "savior worshipping" brush. I like Sarah Palin. I almost certainly would've cast my vote for her. That said, in the toxic politically-driven media environment we're in, I have also maintained that she will exert more influence "behind the scenes" than as a main candidate, and that because she understands that and knows how divisive her candidacy would've been to conservatism, she would NOT run. Pretending that somehow the Establishment doesn't understand her influence is to ignore reality.

What we need is a strong conservative candidate who understands that his most important job as President will be to break the power of the permanent government bureaucracies that control all the levers in DC. That means eliminating departments like Education, HUD, the EPA, etc., and clearing the leftist apparatchiks out of Justice, the State Dept., et al. to the greatest extent possible. No headway can be made in restoring limited government without doing this. And I haven’t heard any candidate articulate this position, yet.
