Arctic ozone loss at record level

Ozone loss over the Arctic this year was so severe that for the first time it could be called an "ozone hole" like the Antarctic one, scientists report.
About 20km (13 miles) above the ground, 80% of the ozone was lost, they say.
The cause was an unusually long spell of cold weather at altitude. In cold conditions, the chlorine chemicals that destroy ozone are at their most active.
It is currently impossible to predict if such losses will occur again, the team writes in the journal Nature.

So now that the global warming hysteria is not catching on among many people, now we’re going back to scaring people about the ozone layer??????
Do liberals always need a cause celebre to scare us to death about?????

and then there’s the volcano right next to the monitoring station......

lol
I caught that too!
so which is it? is it getting hotter or colder?
lol
One thing you can know for sure, even if scientists could prove for certain that we were entering another ice age, the environmentalist would still never encourage us all to try and drive our SUV’s more to save the planet :)

I'm so glad we had to give up R-12......douche bags.

Don’t worry. Obama has it covered, he’s banning asthma inhalers.

So maybe us spending extra $$$ to eliminate fluorocarbons was another scam, and that natural holes happen??? Who would have thunk it?

Given we’ve only had OZONE observations of the upper atmosphere for what? 30 years if that now, something be “RECORD SETTING” in relationship to it is meaningless. Natural cycles occur folks, always have, always will, not everything is do to anything we do.

Chlorine chemical molecules are FAR heaver that atmospheric gasses. How did they get 13 miles high?
Ozone hole? LOL This is sooooo 80s...they are trying to relive their glory years.
Cover a globe in a thin layer of smoke,, spin it, watch small holes appear at the poles. Mystery solved, next problem.

The same thing was pointed out with respect to CFCs. Their answer was that tornadoes must come along and carry them up to the atmosphere, where they then cause all kinds of trouble. No kidding. So absurd it isn't funny.

Looks like the ozone tattletales have caught me using my stash of aerosol deodorant that I purchased back before the R-12 ban.
