Really? I had not heard about that. Probably because I don’t watch the local news TV. I’m sure there are many things that I miss that goes on around the state. I’m pretty focused on what our Tea Party is doing at any given time. We’ve been deep into the redistricting fiasco and the attempt to slap a toll on Rt 35 into perpituity. We are suing over the redistricting. Mason Co. has not had direct representation for 40 years. And it is the county with the most potential in the state. On the river, rails, power plants, history and mystery.

From 1897 to 1933, with the exception of 1917-1921, the governors of WV were ALL Republicans. They were also in bed with the out-of-state mine owners and helped them exploit the miners. Memories are long in the coal fields.

And President Harding sent the U.S. Army into the West Virginia coal fields to put down the Blair Mountain marchers on behalf of the mine owners too. Lots of grandfathers and great-grandfathers never forgot this.

All I know is that she is not running at this time.

You might wanna re-think that thought, sweetie!

(You know I luv ya, but I really think she's in.)

LOL. Yep, we didn’t vote for the “won”.

Hey Roccus, have you been to P.P.lately? We have a lot of good tourist things going now. Battle Days coming up this weekend. I’ll be there in full costume. If you haven’t seen the murals on the flood wall at the River Front Park, they are a “must” see. Stunning to say the least. Also the River Museum is awesome too.

Getting closer.

11 months ago, Manchin (D) won by 10%, by around 53,000 votes.

The Democrat now wins by 3%, around 8,000 votes.

Every month the GOP narrows the advantage the Dems have over them by party registration. A gap of 306,000 11 months ago to now 294,000.

The trend is our friend here.

Doesn’t that seem a little odd to people? 90% of the vote is about as common as a gold nugget in a cowpie. Any funny stuff going on there?

Our little Tea party of ROMEOs lost three this year....so far. We may not accomplish much, but we sure do bi*@h and scream a lot. IRS came and shut down our coffee shop, so meetings have been catch as catch can lately.

And I luv you back MD but the fact remains she is not in the race at this time. That is not to say she won't throw her hat in the ring...but at this time she is just a JAFO.

Yes. We are not going to put up with it many more years. The Tea Parties are working now at the local level. It will take time, but we are serious about changing things, even if we have to start with dog catcher and work our way up.

Not just the Army, but the Army Air Corps also.
Appalachia was also the site of another armed insurrection that brought out the US Army, the Whiskey Rebellion.

WV history is extremely interesting. I bought those VHS tapes on WV History from PBS. They are great. The people in this little state have really suffered a lot of outside trauma. It’s strange that it would be that way because they are people who wanted to be left alone to live their lives in their beloved mountains.

I’m driving less and less lately. Haven’t even been up to Clarksbrg since last Dec. Didn’t even make my annual fishing trip to Woodrum Lake in Jackson this year. Fortunately, I’ve got two lakes within 20 min drive, but that heat wave with the humidity kept me close to the AC this summer. Now that things have cooled down, I’m trying to get caught up (when my back lets me) on maintenance I couldn’t do earlier. I gotta re-set one of the piers under my deck, but I’m thinkin’ I may just pay some mister to do it.

While I agree with you that there are some parallels between the 70’s and now; Carter was simply stupid. The madman occupying the WH now is intent on crashing our country. There is no question that he is a radical intent on making this great nation pay for the perceived slights that he believes this country is responsible for.

In other words, we have an enemy ‘within’ now. He has his ‘appointed’ minions to carry out the most radical, anti-american policies in the history of our nation. That in addition to the markets crashing all point to a collapse. So, imho (very humble) we are indeed headed for a complete collapse.

So we prepare for the worst but indeed, hope for the best. I’m fortunate because I live in a rural area and have everything I need to survive. I don’t want to be a ‘rugged individualist’. I want to be able to make a living, live in my home and get by and have peace but it doesn’t look like that is an option anymore.

That needs to be investigated. 90% of the vote doesn’t happen except for very small precincts.

Interesting and VERY complicated.

Folks do not realize that when people came here to work the mines, they were way back in some hollow...in a company town. The ONLY way in or out was on the company train. These folks were marooned and constantly in debt to the company....and that’s the way the Republican governers wanted it.
I often wonder how different this state would have been had it not been for the Erie Canal.
