Should be noted that the real reason why WV has all those miles of interstate is that Senator Bobby "Grand Cyclops" Byrd was powerful enough over most of his Senate career to funnel all that $$$ into WV as pork to provide jobs and buy votes.

I'd be interested to know where "...all those miles of interstate..." you talk about are. Have you looked at a map of WV? I 81 cuts through the Eastern Panhandle for about 30 miles. About a 30 mile stretch of I 68 terminates at Morgantown and I 64, I 77, I 79 cross through the state.
