it’s probably safe to start shorting it. Jobs is not only gone, but I think he’s been sucking up to Obama. This is understood to be the kiss of death.

Anyone have any insight on when the iPhone 5 will come out. I’ve been waiting patiently on Sprint for an iPhone, and when they finally get it, I have to decide whether to get a phone that is only a slight upgrade, or wait a little longer for the iPhone 5. I’m thinking we’re looking at next June for the 5, but that’s just a guess. Where did all these thin phone cases come from if it’s not imminent?

I’m trying to figure out how the announced “4S” is different from what people expected from a supposed “5” model?

Dramatically faster CPU? Check.
Dramatically faster graphics? Check.
Dramatically improved camera? Check.
No loss in battery life? Check, I think.
Kick-a** new feature? Check, Siri.
CMDA/GSM integration? Check.

The only things that come to mind that the 4S doesn’t include that a “5” would have is:

* Different form factor.
* 4G network support. (No guarantee a “5” would have had this anyway)

So mark me down as thinking that the “disappointment” is over-reaction. I like the 4S and I hope to upgrade to one soon.

What they introduced was very nice.
iPhone 4S - expected, same kind of improvement of 3GS over 3G.
iOS 5 - nothing new. Looks great, Oct. 12 please get here already.
Cards app - very nice, pleasant surprise, makes me wonder what Apple _really_ has in mind for this, not prior being in competition with Hallmark.
Siri - sounds great, shades of Newton: awesome futuristic newness, we’ll see how it really works out. Seems damnyousiri.com has already been registered for that reason.
Nano - nice improvements.
Touch - broke the $200 barrier. iOS 5 on it is great - auto-syncing the 8GB version is big for me.

Overall spiffy stuff, yet lacked the *BANG* expected. “Let’s talk iPhones” implied more than just one new phone, although Siri brings “talk to the phone” to a new level.

Nice stuff. Now when can we have the new iPhone 5 and iPad 3?
