There is a lot more to this case.
There is a failure of a prosecuter who jumped to conclusions before he had any evidence. (Still no DNA or knife evidence)
This girl (she was 21 at the time, I think) was arrested and interogated without a lawyer for over 14 hours and wound up confessing to killing her, but then recanted later.
A drifter with his DNA in and on the victim was caught and he initially confessed with NO mention or evidence of even knowing Amanda.
When the prosecuter found this out, he had a guard trick Amanda into confessing to having multiple boy friends and this got released to the press and the public in Italy turned against her.
When the prosecutor saw that he had no case against her for the murder, he change it to lying, which he caused through forced interogation.
This girl was railroaded by a nut case of a prosecutor.

Try 56 straight without sleep before she was coerced into telling the hypothetical story which led to her defamation charges. The police had it out for her.

The prosecutor is a crazy person.
