I don't know if she is guilty or innocent, but after being interrogated by several police officers all night in a foreign country, partly in a language she did not well understand, and without legal council, would agree with whatever the police theorized?

Yes, most might agree to their theory to get out but saying you actually eyewitnessed an innocent person do it is another matter. The guy she accused, Lumumba, was rightfully very angry when he testified against her on the defamation charge in both the trial and on appeal.
