My wife and I have often driven on I-68 over the years on our way to Virginia Beach and have passed a road sign marked Negro Mountain Elev. 2740 FT.

I know we should have followed Rick Perry's example and painted over that sign the first time we saw it. My apologies to Herman Cain and the Washington Post. /s

Um Negro was not an offensive term, it was used for years and years. Might be offensive now but that was different then. Now NIGGERHEAD that is offensive.

You should have had the sign removed and refused to ever drive that road again. How could you be so insensitive?

In all fairness, there’s a place in Maryland called Scagsville. I have often laughed when driving by the sign. I now wish to apologize to all Scags, just in case I ever decide to run for office.
