Rev. Sharpton Responds to Rick Perry ‘Niggerhead’ Story[Calls on Perry to withdrawl from race]
Eurweb ^ | October 2, 2011 | Al Sharpton

Posted on 10/02/2011 1:19:35 PM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

“The Washington Post story revealing that Texas Governor Rick Perry hunted and hosted lawmakers at a hunting camp called Niggerhead is alarming and displays a new height in racial insensitivity in national politics. Mr. Perry should immediately fully explain how he could have gone to a ranch and hunted that is named after such an obvious racist term or he should withdrawl from the race. He is either blindly insensitive or hopelessly unaware of where he spends his time. Either way it makes one wonder if he is ready for prime time and certainly whether he is ready for the White House. – Reverend Al Sharpton, President National Action Network”

Not everyone who says “nigger” means it in malice. Irish were long viewed as “white niggers” to much of Anglo-Saxon America. I would personally have okayed an alternative of Negro Brook or Black Brook.

I’m trying to rehab the name “redneck” if you haven’t already guessed.

At the least, was the guy named Pelletier?

Cain supports affirmative action and is allowing Sharpton to play the race card.

Cain supports affirmative action?

What did I miss?

Perry’s opponents are heartless.
Perry’s supporters are racists.

Where does this hunt take place, in “Himeytown?”
If so, that would be offensive, having a hunt within an urban population where people could be shot, even if that urban population is filled with people the “Rev.” Jackson despises (and uses).

well.. here is where the race stands as of today:

Paul - loveable lunatic that will get us all killed
Bachmann - apparently became retarded after being forcefully injected with HPV
Perry – coddles illegals by offering them instate tuition rates
Cain – Race baiting turncoat with no experience and no money
Santorum – A one term loser and petty little man that polls 1%
Romney – A slick talking Mormon liberal who has changed his position on every issue to try and fool conservatives.
Huntsman – A slick talking liberal who didn’t bother to change his positions, and obviously got confused what primary he was running in.
Gingrich – has more baggage than all his wives put together.

*sigh*

I think they ought to call themselves black rednecks, as long as they're countrified and/or working class, or related thereto. In fact every good American has some redneck in him or her.

Apparently this lease was named many years ago after a field of prolific daisies in the area, which were colloquially called “niggerheads.”

What is interesting is that the name was painted over in the early 1980’s by Perry's father, and then the rock turned over.

So to see it, the media had to turn the rock back over. Literally looking under rocks to try to find some dirt.

A couple of questions. First, why are there no pictures? Is it because the offensive term is so faint under the covering paint that it is not visible? Or is it because the covering paint is so weathered that it is obvious it has been covering the offensive term for a very long time?

Secondly, What have folks who were also on the lease said about the rock? Rick Perry's dad? Other members of the lease? Admitted guests? The ranch manager? Folks who will allow their names to be used?

Thirdly, if Herman Cane is so offended about something that has been cleaned up decades ago, then perhaps he can explain something to me. Italians are offended by the term “Godfather,” for obvious reasons. Why did he not change the name of Godfather's Pizza when he was CEO?

Here is a link to a site which describes the daisies and their colloquial names: http://www.nature-and-flower-pictures.com/black-eyed-susan.html

Cain still has to learn how to deal with false premises (he may have to resist always being a gentleman and call the mendacious liberal interrogators out like Newt does) but all in all, I thought he did well in his interviews today—not perfect but well enough for how far he has come in the time he has had.
Palin/Cain or Cain/Bachman or Cain/Santorum or Cain/Gingrich—in that order and no others because the rest are either RINOs or have fatal flaws in their records.

Let me see if I have this right, in 1983, Perry’s father covered up an offensive sign, yet we know almost nothing of Obama’s escapades at Columbia during the same time?

I’d respect Perry a lot better if he could get the big picture of where this is leading. Once you get a bunch of college grad illegales, where do they work? Mexico isn’t exactly a paradise of college level jobs. That said, maybe it ought to become one. I could see working with Mexican philanthropists in a quid pro quo arrangement, to try to improve the brain quotient of Mexico.

The name comes from that of a wildflower common to Texas. The part of a ships wench you wrap the line around to haul in a heavy line was also called a nigger head back in my days.

So much for YOUR future in politics. It would seem that merely being aware of such historical artifacts is enough to disqualify a person for political office.

Rev Al, the race-baiters' pal. What a crock.

Reminds me of the black father and his son who complained about finding the "racist" word "Niger" in an on-line encyclopedia.

no I am not kidding at all, Cain just sunk his campaign with this Al Sharpton like comment. And when you couple this with his comment the other day that he would vote for Obama over Perry in the general, but could vote for Romney.. and I have heard all I need to from the Rev. Cain

Sadly, it appears that Herman Cain (another Republican candidate) went and got himself embroiled in it before all the facts were known.

The Republicans need to remember Ronald Regans 11th commandment. Cain just lost my support for dropping the race card today

You’ll never see the LA Slimes release the Rashid Khalili tape..maybe if McCain had a pair he would have made a bigger issue of it during the campaign but refused to do so. Who cares what Al Sharpton thinks, he is a joke, the only ones that care what that moron thinks are far left loonies.

A lot of folks here sure are trying their hardest to hand obama a second term.

And your assertion that Cain is for affirmative action suits what purpose?

Herman Cain doing his best Al Sharpton imitation by throwing out the race card.

I thought Herman Cain was better then that. Guess I was wrong.

Sharpie’s right this time. The Perrys (and not “Perry’s”, for f____’s sake!) should have re-painted the sign to say: “The head of a African-American”.
