Big effing deal, but it does touch on the lighter side of the not-so-old West.
The Renaming of the West is an ongoing saga. There are quite a few places that have had to be renamed in recent years due to their decidedly un-PC original monikers.
Can anyone think of other examples?

I wonder if they'll re-title the classic Spencer Tracy - Robert Ryan movie to “Bad Day at African American Rock.”

I was wondering when somebody would point out the obvious. Mt. McKinley, Squaw thisandthat, Dead Indian Soda Springs are names that have been/soon to be replaced with PC correct names...and don't forget the ongoing mascot name changing.

Squaw Peak in Arizona was renamed for a woman who was the first Indian to be killed in Iraq. I had no problem with them naming a highway after her, but they changed the name of Squaw Peak because it was supposedly “offensive” to the indians. Everyone still calls it Squaw Peak.

Freepmail. Apparently the mods on Perry threads don’t like history lessons.

The Jewfish is a fish still called that. As a kid, my dad and I fished at Jewfish Creek in the Florida keys which still has a bridge call the "Jewfish Creek Bridge" on the only road to Key West from Miami. So millions have crossed over it in the last 100 years.
Other examples are easy. Virtually all states and cities with Indian (Native American) names including Indiana, Indianapolis, Spokane, Sioux City and Sioux Falls etc. Maybe non-Catholics can be "offended' by virtually every city with Saint or San in its name.
