Does the class (course) require a practical exam, or internship? Even culinary students have to do practical exams and internships (in real establishments, dealing with real customers). If so, then yes, she should likely drop the class/course. And her money refunded (pro-rata).

Good for the school to catch it before it went to where someone else could have been at risk.

She needs to choose a different career. Sounds like the school ask her to drop the class. I would, too, if she were a relative of mine.
