2,000 semi automatic guns to drug cartels is nothing compared to what the drug cartels further south in Mexico can buy for 1/3 the price from the Chinese, the Brazilians, almost ANY country with a standing army armed with full automatic weapons.
For your argument to have any standing at all, we would have to be shipping tens of thousands of military grade weapons and armaments and ammunition. Seriously, come back down to earth.

Obviously you don’t subscribe to the idea this was an attempt by the Obama administration to bump up the statistics in those countries of the number of guns used in crimes in those nations that were sourced to US gun dealers near our border.

Stop and reconsider that statement. 2000, organized, armed, and completely ruthless persons with prior military service and training could overthrow a small country. A Coup de Tete is far more possible with those arms than without.
