“I understand your suspicion of conservative political movements. It is rooted in pain and fear and memory, and though I never saw the horrors of segregation that you did, we share that cultural heritage.”
Conservatives had NOTHING to do with segregation....that would be the responsibility of the party of that racist your invitation is addressed to.
But blacks have been brainwashed by the left that conservatives are at the root of all their ills. It’s not true, of course, but that’s the narrative they have been taught for decades.
Most blacks have been told that it was republicans that did all of that. The ones who find out the truth will tell you they feel lied to many will refuse to believe it and walk away.
Well, a lot of people who presented themselves as conservatives did, even though they weren’t.
What this guy Akbar says is right on the money.
I saw Freeman in a number of movies like Glory and Armistad and he was great. Its too bad he feels the way he does about us. Maybe Mr. Akbar can change his mind about us and conservatives in general if Freeman takes him up on his offer.
Before the communists all got scared of McCarthy and decided to hide out in the Democrat party, there were many conservative Democrats, who also happened to be members of the KKK. They defended their racial actions as simply defending the natural order of things, keeping the country the way it was intended by the founders (in their minds).
The liberal/moderate/conservative debate is not the same as the Democrat/Republican debate, and, I think, never has been so.
