A Palin presidency: Too shackle-y?
Thats what Sarah Palin suggested on Fox News On The Record with Greta VanSusteren tonight, saying that shes concerned jumping into the 2012 presidential race will muffle her message.
Is a title worth it? she asked, rhetorically. Does a title shackle a person? Are they someone like me whos maverick? I do go rogue and I call it like I see it and I dont mind stirring it up in order to get people to think and debate aggressively.
Is a title and a campaign too shackle-y?, she continued. Does that prohibit me from being out there, out of a box, not allowing handlers to shape me and to force my message to be what donors or what contributors or what pundits want it to be? Does a title take away my freedom to call it like I see it and to affect positive change that we need in this country? Thats the biggest contemplation piece in my process.
Palin expressed a concern about being caricatured if she runs, and asked again whether a title is needed to make a difference or someone can be rogue, can be maverick, can be passionate about issues and can get people to think very wisely about issues....

You know, that’s rather insulting. If that was a joke it wasn’t funny. And I don’t have balls.

(That’s next Tuesday. Can you wait for it?)
I think it’s McCain who went in deep. He reached into the middle of a great big snowbank and came up with Sarah Palin. Would you say no if you had been approached by a presidential candidate of your party?
If Palin is calling the Presidency of the United States a mere "title", she is not really serious about it and most likely never was. Even Greta's continuing commentary about the power of the Presidency did not veer Palin from her talking point that the Presidency was nothing more than a "title".
The very long tease has been a game at the expense of her followers. The ultimate goal was the increased marketability of her paid speeches which now will be marketed as speeches that are "passionate about issues and can get people to think very wisely about issues..
Price: Approximately $100,000 per speech.
If you or your group want to book her, contact her agents at:
“What would have opened her up to national visibility?”
Many governors try to take the Senate as the next step. She would get noticed there.
Ah, well, you have the 'right' to make of her words what you choose to make. I got from the words she used that she believes because this nation is made up of individuals NOT crony capitalists paying to play, her effort was to find the 'right' way to allow US to hear what she has to say with out participating in the liberal produced dog and pony shows called debates. The typical methodology used by the GOP establishment allows the liberal media to elevate a candidate in one sound bite or rip a candidate to shreds in a second sound bite. ALLLLL the liberal media outlets (FOX included) take polls with leading questions and call it 'news'.
Dunno, “title” would make much more sense referring to her party’s standard (she’s the “GOP Presidential candidate”) than to the office she’d ultimately aspire to. And she certainly realizes if she tries to be master of everything she will end up master of nothing.
Huck
You are so right... that comment was extremely insulting.
Wow, you got a lot more words than I did. :)
I hope she gets in the race. I don't think this opining from the sidelines is doing either her or our chances to beat Obama any good.
“I think its McCain who went in deep. He reached into the middle of a great big snowbank and came up with Sarah Palin. Would you say no if you had been approached by a presidential candidate of your party?”
I’m saying that after seeing everything that happened to Palin, yes you should say no.
She just took a poke a fox’s coverage.
She’s going to quit fox in the coming 2 weeks.
Sarah barracuda was always going to run.
But again, I don’t think Sarah Palin had ideas of national scope until she was pulled in by John McCain. Being an Alaskan really does mean living in an insular world. The geography forces it on you unless you come into a megamillion budget and can afford all the jet flight needed to swallow up that space.
Maybe the title of her campaign should be
Change you can Really believe in
she can use some of Obama’s old signs, and mark in the “Really” part, save some money... ;-)
it didnt stop Huckabee
Huckabee, who actually got into the Arena in 2008 and was soundly beaten, does not command $100,000 per speech as Sarah Palin does. Not even close.
The future marketability of Sarah Palin will rest a great deal upon the faith of her supporters that, if only she HAD run, then she would have been President in 2013.
Muhammad Ali was defeated five times in the ring. I, Polybius, have never, EVER been defeated in the ring!
"Ummm ... Polybius, you have never set foot inside a boxing ring."
No, I haven't. But, if I HAD, I would have knocked out Muhammed Ali in his prime. I would have ripped Joe Frazier apart. I would have ....
I am fast approaching the idea that nobody really wants the Presidency in face of what those running, or thinking of running, likely know that we can only speculate about.
Could be the Republicans are going to let Obama take the heat for the fall.....becuase part of the Democrate plan was to let the Republicans take this next election and begin rebuilding the country...but in 4-8 yrs take it back and claim the victory for bringing the country back once the republicans did all the hard lifting.
I think we're going down in the next year or so and they all know it...but so the nation doesn't panic and bring down the baking system etc. they are not telling us
Course I'm speculating....but who would want to take on the monster obama has created?....Perhaps the plan is to let him take the fall entirely?
Here is the video of the entire interview at the FOX News web page:
She was not opining tonight. She was speaking directly to some and broadly to US all as individuals. And she let it be known to all that the present resident at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, no matter what happens in the next 14 months to the employment numbers and the housing market, that he was a European socialist and had to go home.
It would make a difference for at least a while, if a competent Republican takes the helm in 2013. If the highest thought is simply how to shrug off some nebulous blame, they should hardly complain about not getting anything done.
