Observation: Black Teens Thoughts on Herman Cain (Vanity)

I'm a certified Social Studies teacher in Texas. I teach in a Public School that is predominantly Black (70%) with 25% Hispanic and 5% White/Asian. Today, I went out on a limb and told them that there was a possibility that in 2012 there would be two Black men running for President: Barack Obama (Democrat) and Herman Cain (Republican). Most of the students were non-committal or non-interested. But, the ones who were interested and somewhat informed, SHOCKINGLY, are excited about Herman Cain.
Of the aforementioned, I would say, it was 50% Obama and 50% Cain. The Obama support was tepid at best. But, without fail, the students who like Cain were enthusiastic about him, saying: "Cain, Cain, Cain," and someone in almost every class said: "Obama has not helped people get jobs."
Kids reflect their parents politics. I still say, Herman Cain would not get the majority of the Black vote, but he would take more votes from Zero than anyone else. The dissatisfied Black voters could vote for Cain and not feel guilty because they voted against a brotha.

“BFL for people too lazy to create a bookmark on their own computer they force us to filter through the bump crap. Whats wrong w Ctrl-D or Cmd-D? Or dragging the link to your tab bar? Is that really so hard?”
yeah it’s not so hard to delete a bookmark but it is very hard to delete a post on freerepublic. And most of these bfl’s, btt’s, etc simply aren’t deleted.

You may have misunderstood my post. Perhaps I didnt make it clear enough. I have some friends who are unemployed and I have talked with them a lot. But they have a better chance of landing a job than the high school drop out with long hair and droopy pants. I dont find them asking the government to give them a job or give them benefits because they would rather earn a job, not rely on the government to give them anything. The job talk I was referring to was from the black community. Lots of talk about jobs.Gotcha. Thanks.

The black vote goes 70% or so for the democrat in every election, right?
Actually it's 90-93%

Its not a fair election if Cain splits the black vote.

I told my first Principal, years ago before she retired: “Thank you for giving me a job”. She said: “I didn’t give you a job; you earned your job.” I shall never forget that.

Cain and Palin have been my two prime choices for a long time. Both have said things that give me to understand they are that extreme rarity among politicians i.e. people who understand Economics, how people choose and how money works and doesn’t work. Reagan understood. Coolidge understood.

Cain has been predicting he would get 1/3 of the black vote. If hes correct, theres no way Obama could overcome it.
I'm thinking that if Cain can mobilize the Black Churches in Iowa and get them to the Caucuses.... He can win Iowa and be on the road to getting the nomination. Pawlenty is out and Bachmann is falling in the polls, so, Iowa is wide open.

"Our school is not participating. " Glad to hear it personally, but part of me wanted to know what he said and a social studies teacher's opinion on how the kids received the speech.
Keep up your good work and thanks again for the post

Even if he doesn’t get the nomination he should continue to get the message out.

The dissatisfied Black voters could vote for Cain and not feel guilty because they voted against a brotha. Probably the first fifty of the fifty-seven states plus, maybe, DC?
