There are three possibilities now regarding Palin:

1) She doesn’t run.

2) She gets in as a Republican, in which case the end of September is a semi-hard deadline.

2) She runs as an independent and/or third party, in which case she has to begin wooing parties that already have ballot access (Conservative, Reform, Libertarian, etc.) and/or start circulating petitions to get enough signatures to get on the ballot of the 50 States.

I have absolutely no idea which way she’s going to go, at this point, but it does seem to me (as someone who’d like to see her run) that a final go-no go decision point for a 2012 Presidential run really is coming up in the near future.

I'm not comparing Cain and Perry. I already stated my issues with Perry.

I'm just stating the things that the Press and the DNC will use to attack Mr. Cain.

You will notice how none of these issues are being discussed at present. They are keeping their powder dry waiting for the first chance to destroy Mr. Cain should he become our Candidate. The only Black folk the Liberals like are the ones who agree to live their lives following the Plantation mentality. I will never forget the hateful attacks on Justice Thomas, past and present.

For what it’s worth, I listened to Rush as much as possible today.

He said that “if” Christie were to get in, he would take away Romney votes.

He said that most everyone is dissatisfied and scared of Romney (both establishment and tea party).

He also said it is more or less too late for Christie.

He expressed major disappointment with Perry’s debate performance.

He did not mention Palin.

What’s the net of all that?

Hard to say.

It’s Romney v. ????.

The problem is, if it is Romney v a question mark, Romney probably wins.

If a real conservative like Cain or Bachmann doesn’t catch fire, then Palin will HAVE to get in for the good of the country.

When the country calls, a patriot like Sarah will answer the call.

If we elect an open-borders, illegals-loving pro-amnesty Republican like Bush or McCain, it will mean national suicide.

California is gone politically speaking. A Perry victory will ensure that Texas and Florida will be just a few years behind, and there will never again be a chance to elect a conservative to the presidency.

Electing Obama will be like the country putting a gun to her head and pulling the trigger. Electing the Perry is like the country strapping herself to a gurney and putting the needle in. Yes it’s a lot slower, but we end up at the same place.

There’s nothing stopping anyone from filing for those primaries without ‘announcing’ except maybe the politics of it.

Why allow artificial ‘deadlines’ to dictate when a candidate should announce a presidential bid? Why not just file for those primaries and keep the options open. She’s got the money.

Technically, it may be not be too late for Palin “to jump into 2012 race” but in the hearts of many Americans, who were patiently waiting for her, it is.

I was just wondering today if she was waiting for the 2 nasty books to come out and let that die down before she announced. Now that we know they are both a bunch of salacious rumors and gossip she’ll announce.

I think your first two possibilities are the likely ones. She will not win by going the third party route or running as independent route. There is not enough support or voters. Also, it would make Obama a winner since it will draw some people away from the Republican nominee.

We will all know in a few days if she is going to declare according to articles quoting her.

“There are official filing deadlines, you know.”

And, when she lets one go by, I, too will approach the wailing wall. Until then, Full speed ahead, DAMN the torpedoes!!!

Here is how I translate Rush on that, and I heard it too:
FWIW:

“Romney, straighten up, fly right, and in further to the right, or I’ll treat you like I did McCain. You aren’t as bad as McCain, but you are leaning that direction. You have some tea party support because you are good on taxes and regulation and small government - but it’s shaky shaky shaky.

Christie getting in would be good for tea party by siphoning off some of Romney’s votes.

And I love Sarah, and don’t want to mention her now because I have no idea what she is thinking on running or not at this juncture.

And Gov Perry, you’re gonna have to tighten it up and quit using liberal talking points to defend your positions or you are toast. YOu could have done much better on that tuition question, mentioning that these people would be more of a burden to the taxpayers of Texas if they are not educated - but you blew it with the heartless thing just like Bush did with the “backs of the poor” thing. And work on that stamina thing! “

That’s my inner Rush for the day.....

“Did he email his resume to Team Palin?”

The Palins can always print it out and use it for toilet tissue.

If Sarah wants to be on the ballot in South Carolina, she needs to file by November 1st.”

Does filing require the “candidates” signature?

It has occurred to me that Palin could simply “allow” her name to be put on these various ballots as the deadlines come up.

That would be consistent with what I have seen so far, that’s for sure.

Does anyone know that? Does a filing in a state for that state’s Presidential primary typically require a signature of the person whose name will be on the ballot?

“I have absolutely no idea which way she’s going to go,”

I have to go with your first Number 2 ;-). I think she is way too patriotic/politically savvy to go third party.

I appreciate the vote of confidence. That said, I’d like to know how Ed changes his mind like that without doing Pazuzu head spins.

If I was a betting person, I would bet that rollins’ remark had less to do with Sarah Palin and more to do with a desire to stick the knife into Michele Bachmann. THAT is the kind of pr*ck he is.

I beg to differ. After watching the current crop of contenders sputter and die, all it will take is a “Game on” from Sarah Palin, and you will see the explosion of a lifetime. It will be like a thousand jet engines - all igniting at once. Mark my words.
