I agree, and even that can be snipped and trimmed. I don’t believe that there should be any federal government benefits or pensions either. I think that there should merely be a rate of pay which the workers receive and can buy their own benefits (of course, I eblieve that about all businesses, but I’m not forced to fund all businesses, so they can choose how to reward their workers, and states can be handled at the state level). Removing all governmental benefits (”insurance”, pensions, etc.) would keep us from having unfunded liabilities, and would reduce the amount that subsequent generations are forced to pay for previous governmental employees.

You'd still have unfunded liabilities. A good number of my ancestors received Revolutionary War pensions. Happened many years after the war, but it happened. Their write-ups regarding their service are amazing. Manuel McConnell pretty much DID the outline for "The Patriot" with a couple of other guys.

The Second Continental Congress created an unfunded liability but they didn't care!
