I’m with you in the sense that I’d like to see us less overextended in useless, unwinnable, small-potatoes occupations and wars—while we simultaneously carry a bigger stick. If we have to do damage, we do damage—without needlessly sacrificing our men and women.
I agree, but boy is this an unpopular view here. Did you see it years ago when we wanted to stand toe to toe with the the Russians on their boarder over that nutjob in the Caucasus, completely forgetting that the Black Sea is the Russian's pond whenver they want it to be. Talk about strategic over-reach.
I just hope we can unwind committments we cannot afford before our collapsing economy and the world at large unwind them for us.
I’m with y’all on this one.....only with a twist. My contention for years now is that we pull out of these pissant, unwinnable wars and very publicly warn the Muslim world thusly:
One more atrocity against the US or one of our allies, one more act of jihad, etc., and our response will be the following:
We will nuke one of your religious centers, starting with Mecca, totally obliterating it. Medina would be next. Then we’d start on your capitals, beginning with Tehran, followed by Damascus.
You set off a bomb or hijack a plane, we take out a city unblinkingly.
This would not be an idle threat, and it’s undoubtedly one we’d have to make good on at least once. If Russia or China balked at such a threat....screw ‘em. Truth is, I think they’d secretly love it given their own major problems with Islam.
Islamists understand one thing, and one thing only: strength.
