New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is reconsidering his decision not to enter the 2012 presidential race and he says he will let top Republican donors know within days about his plans, Newsmax has learned. During the past few weeks, several leading Republican donors and fundraisers have been urging the popular Republican governor to reconsider his decision not to run and to enter the GOP primary. These Christie supporters note that significant GOP support has remained on the sidelines of the primary fight. Many leading fundraisers have yet to commit to any current primary contender, including frontrunners Rick Perry and Mitt Romney. Newsmax has learned that the effort to draft Christie culminated in a hush-hush powwow held in the past week with Christie and several notable Republican billionaires.

Isn’t he pro-abortion and gay marriage?

As disenchanted as I am with the current field of Republican Presidential Candidates, Chris Christie entering the race would simply make it that much worse..... On the other hand, with his blunt, Jersey attitude, and his geographical and ideological similarities to Mitt that will appeal to many of the same constiuencies.... Yeah, come on in Chris! Let’s dilute those “Moderate” Northeastern Republican Establishment votes — and make way for Sarah to step into the Front-runner status! ;-)
moreso Christy hasn’t a clue about the Islamic threat...take a look at who is in his administration sometime...and who he appointed as Judge. The guy is clueless and I doubt has much under his wing on International Policies and the like.
Exactly! Conservatives are doing more to kill our possible nominees than the Libs. Obama must be laughing his ass off while we find our own candidates weaknesses and beat them over the head with it.
Instead of forecasting irreparable harm if Perry or Romney or Christie is our nominee, just agree to disagree and move on. One of them might be our candidate in 2012 and we don’t need them to go into the race fatally wounded.
Wait, doesnt he know that it is too late to get in the race?
Now THAT would be awesome! :)
We’re going to need a bigger boat.

Newsmax story “not true,” Christie adviser tells me. Shocking.
I agree, I would be happy if a conservative would run, but sadly there isn't one. Yet.
I don’t understand why people think she’s good looking. She really has manly features.

All this Christie talk only confirms there’s enuf dissatisfaction w/ GOP field for more candidates to get in - and nothing more.
Agreed. Precious little to go by.
Fatty is not going to go after a GOP pal. He is going to try and take out some conservatives for Romney and draw in what is left of the conservative vote.
He’s a flaming social liberal like Romney, McCain and his girlfriend, Ms. Lindsay and the Mass. cheesecake, Scott Brown.
You mean he would quit as governor without serving out his term? Oh my!!! Weve been told over and over thats a disqualifier.
I think you are on to something there.
Maybe, just maybe we will actually have the choice of voting for someone other than the Progressive of the month that the Republican party wheels out.
If this forum had any effect on politics, Bill and Hillary would be in jail. It just happens that this is more fun that shouting at the TV.
Normally I would agree with you PSN....but money is talking in a huge way in this primary season...and with the world economy as it is there’s going to be many a taker to shore themselves up to withstand what’s coming....even candidates...maybe especially candidates who could be paid for the ride without any real asperations of winning.
I think we’re going to see a lot of flies in the ointment before the real contenders finally emerge. Ron Paul has always and forever been a “bookmarker” distraction...he’ll never win but keeps the independants and libertarians occupied for a time...and the pollsters love to put him in the fray to stir the soup.
Makes you wonder who the “Money guys” are footing Christy if he runs....it has been said takes 35 million to run. No way can Christy have this laying in his coffer without major help.
Can our Presidency be bought....yes.
