Two things:

1) I have never met a homeschooler with ADD or ADHD who has been homeschooled from the beginning.

2) I have never met an obese homeschooler ( or even overweight one) who has been homeschooled from the beginning.

3) And...None of my patients’ parents have ever reported reading dyslexia in any homeschooler who has been homeschooled from the beginning.

I have seen these two pathologies in homeschoolers who have spent some years in government school and then later are pulled out of the school. ( usually due to learning or behavior problems, or conflict with the staff or curriculum) . In my 30 year career, I have likely known well several thousand families.

Yes, I know these are anecdotal observations but I do think it would be worthwhile for this to be examined in a more scientific manner.

And i ahve offered to send one that I had two years ago several times and you never seem to respond. Chris XXXX is 100 lbs over weight and is ADD and oppositional defiant. His parents had to send him to pulbic school because mommy couldn't control him. I am willing to be that his mother would pay you to take him.

Once I home schooled a ten or eleven year old girl who had had some public schooling and some home schooling. Her mother couldnt’ handle her and there were family “issues”. I took care of her at my home for about 3 or 4 months. She was way, way behind her age level in everything, could not sit still, could not concentrate, hated any schoolwork, etc. Her handwriting was atrocious. It was a challenge but I loved that child.

So, I worked out a plan (plus I HAD to use the stupid workbooks provided, which made it more difficult). She was allowed to do 20 minutes of schooling, and then 5 or 10 minutes outside to play with the cats or whatever she wanted. We worked on her handwriting very carefully. She received no punishments. We did some other things as well.

After a few weeks, her handwriting was gazillion times better, and she started begging to do more than 20 minutes so she could “finish” things that used to take her days to finish. I wouldn’t let her do school longer until a month or so, then she was allowed 25 minutes of schoolwork and 10 minutes active play.

Each child is different.

Unfortunately when she went back home the previous agenda was followed which was extremely counter productive. But at least she had those months with me, and now as a late teenager, she attends a wonderful private school far away from home and loves every minute of it!
