'It's Over': After Three Torturous Hours Strapped To The Chair Troy Davis Has Been Executed Davis finally died at 11.08pm

All nine Supreme Court justices voted to deny the stay after taking more than four hours to come to their decision

Appeal had challenged ballistics linking Davis to the crime, and eyewitness testimony identifying Davis as the killer

Davis convicted of killing off duty police officer Mark MacPhail in 1989 Defence lawyers say there is still 'lingering doubt' of Davis' guilt By HANNAH ROBERTS 22nd September 2011

Mental torture: The convicted murderer was sedated and strapped to the chair in the execution chamber before Georgia officials stopped the process minutes before the scheduled 7pm death

The execution of Troy Davis has gone ahead despite a dramatic intervention minutes before he was due to be put to death. The death row inmate was executed by lethal injection within an hour of the decision by US Supreme Court justices.

In a gruesome scene, the convicted murderer was said to be sedated and strapped to the chair in the execution chamber before Georgia officials stopped the process just before the scheduled 7pm death.

A last minute appeal by Davis' lawyers challenged ballistics linking the death row inmate to the 1989 murder of off-duty policeman Mark MacPhail and eyewitness testimony identifying Davis as the killer. After more than four hours the appeal was denied by the Supreme Court Justices. Five of nine Supreme Court judges were needed to stay the execution.

A statement issues by the Supreme Court read :'The application for stay of execution of sentence of death presented to Justice (Clarence) Thomas and by him referred to the Court is denied'

Not to be outdone, Texas executed the Byrd dragger tonight also. Perry didn’t want to seem softer than Georgia. I’m sure they will be a question about it tomorrow on Fox.

Sedated? I don't think Officer McPhail got that consideration.

One more cop killer on his way to hell.

I'm pretty sure I undersatnd what the word "gruesome" means, and I'm really missing the "gruesome" aspects of this story. Note that they don't bother to apply the word to, say, the cold-blooded murder of Mark MacPhail. Wouldn't fit the agenda.

U should see how Michelle Malkin is being attacked on twitter by Alec Baldwin(Who calls people who support Davis’s execution a bunch of “Right wing whackos”) he is calling for Malkin’s death on twitter..its absolutely disgusting..she didn’t do anything..all she did was make a dedication to the REAL victim here, Mark MacPhail who unfortunately many have forgotten about

And Perry should say..."Before anyone from the press asks, I slept soundly last night, thank you."

Our Judicial System is deplorable. From start to finish, it is corrupt, it has come to where the victims of crime are then victimized by the courts, and the accused — and especially the convicted criminals — are portrayed and the victims, and often the popular heroes to be venerated, celebrated and emulated.

It takes DECADES to achieve true justice for the worst of the lot, and their endless appeals clog our courts, make insincere and crooked Leftist lawyers rich and re-victimize the families of the murdered, raped and ruined all over again.

THEN, when they FINALLY get the killer to the death chamber, they leave him lingering there for HOURS waiting to see if they can find ONE MORE Judge, and ONE MORE excuse, to spare his miserable life?? Not only does this violate the 8th Amendment rights of the Criminal (who is the LEAST of my concerns, trust me), but it TORTURES to family of his victims, and all the other witnesses who are stuck, waiting, perhaps watching for the execution to take place....

The Judicial Branch of our government is, like the other two branches, so perverted and distorted compared to what the Founders meant it to be, it’s hard for me to envision it EVER being restored to it’s Constitutional moorings...At least not through a systematic, civil and political means.

So I don’t understand why the media is referring to him as “Troy Davis.”

The very same reason they call him Barack Obama and not Bluff Daddy.

After Three Torturous Hours Strapped To The Chair

I thought it was Old Sparky, not lethal injection. Oh well.

Alec Baldwin killed 3000 people taking down the Twin Towers on 9/11.

Might as well give him a little back.

rah in Hebrew means wicked

In American it means Robert A. Heinlein.

In Rastafarian it means God.

In Cheerleader it means Look At Me (but then, that's what everything means in Cheerleader).

>>before Georgia officials stopped the process just before the scheduled 7pm death.

Kind of like a baseball game. If this were televised they’d tell the audience the death is on delay and the commentators
would sit around talking about past executions. Or the many well known people now on death row who will probably die of
old age rather than being put to death. (”Remember Scott
Peterson?”...”Yeah, he’ll still be in prison a good 50 years from now. Lot of people ahead of him...”)

Well the umpires could have called this one and tried again tomorrow night but the tarp is being taken off the field, he’s on the gurney ready for the hot shot, and it looks like the
death delay is over. We’ll be right back with that right after a word from your local stations!
