Fox News ^ | 21 September 2011

Contrary to news report, Michael Reagan, the son of the former president, told Fox News on Wednesday that he is not running for the Senate seat in California currently held by Democrat Dianne Feinstein and hasn't considered the idea.

Reagan added that he doesn't know how that news got reported by The San Francisco Chronicle, which is in Feinstein's hometown.

"I never even spoke to anyone at the Chronicle and I am not running for Senate in California," he said.

I don’t know if he was the only chance. What about Darrell Issa?

I didn’t know Issa was even considering it. He now has a lot of power with his committee chairmanship. He is one of the few Republicans who could match the personal wealth of DiFi.

I do not believe DiFi is defeatable. At all. I sincerely do not believe that even an all-out, unlimited finance, no-mistakes campaign could defeat DiFi, and that’s with DiFi not campaigning at all. Sorry, I just don’t.

Boxer, maybe, but she isn’t running this year/cycle.

Running against Feinstein would be a complete waste of effort and money. And I don’t think that is a pessimistic view, I think it is pure realism.

They couldn't beat Boxer in 2010, there's no way GOP will beat Feistein in 2012

Aside from that, I'm glad Michael Reagan isn't running.

Who will be our sacrificial lamb? We need someone who can self-fund and looking forward to blowing $10s of millions.

I was just thinking out loud on Issa. I know he’s valuable to the House; but he would have 4X the influence in the Senate. I wish he’d consider it.

The RINO establishment would work overtime to take him down.

And? So what? The TEA Party would work overtime to get him in too, exposing once again, the RINOs for who they are. It might be a great opportunity to DO something about the CAGOP hierarchy.

Hey, I love McClintock. I’ve supported him in his runs, but I abhor what the party establishment has done to him every time he tried to run statewide. We saw what they tried to do in dragging in the RINO Ose in his House race, where he was barely able to win a reliably GOP district. I’d rather keep him in the House where he can continue to win and affect change rather than waste him on a race for which he will get screwed in both directions.

However, I’m not opposed to floating his name to see how he’d perform in a hypothetical race against the elderly Feinstein... nor would I oppose he and his supporters getting control of the CA GOP, which has been rudderless for a very long time (except when it comes to supporting execrable loser RINOs).
