British-born MSNBC afternoon anchor Martin Bashir devoted his September 20 "Clear the Air" commentary to clouding the issue of raising taxes by citing the clause in Article I, Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution's that bans Congress from granting titles of nobility (video follows page break):
It's time now to "Clear the Air." And with Republicans declaring that class warfare has been started by President Obama, after he suggested that Warren Buffett should at least pay the same amount of tax as his secretary, I was reminded of an American history class that I took in my final year of high school in London.
During one lesson, we were introduced to Article 1 and Section 9 of the American Constitution and were told that this was one of the most important clauses designed to end the aristocratic and class-ridden approach to society that had defined Great Britain during the 18th century.

someone needs to ask Bashir what the founding fathers would think of General Electric (Bashir’s employer) who lobbied Congress to make a law for new light bulbs, then make those light bulbs in China (after closing down America plants), and pay no federal income taxes....all while receiving bailout money from the US taxpayer?
actually, the founders were SPECIFICALLY against progressive taxation.
until the 16th (fraudulently adopted) amendment, the only mention of taxation was based on the population of the state. that population would result in a percentage of the total due by the STATE for the federal budget. the Constitution left the collection of those taxes up to the states.
if the founders were on board with taxing the rich, they would have required rich states, such as VA and NY at the time, to pay a larger percentage.
they didn’t.
progressive taxation is a socialist ponzi scheme.
and the 16th amendment does a 180 from the intention of the founders. with the 16th, the individual owed money directly to the fed (ie: king George) instead of their community... which would pass it up to the state.

Did Anyone ask this MSNBC Hypocrite why Pelosi/Reid/Obama didn’t ALREADY raise taxes on the rich, when they had total control of ALL THREE HOUSES??
True, sort of, for direct taxation. Except Congress rarely implemented direct taxes.
Instead, they taxed imports through tariffs, and products produced in the US with excises.
The founding fathers went to war and risked the gallows over a 1/2 cent tax.... (you stupid douchebag)

“The poor ye have ALWAY”
The Lord Jesus recognized that there was no such thing as a socially equal utopia in this world.
Great posting, I could use some comic relief.
