Well, if progressives really wanted to soak the rich, they'd be all for taxing wealth. Maybe someday their supporters will acquire some sense and ask their pols why the pols won't vote to do that.

We often wonder why those rich Leftists in high power are so excited about “tax the rich”. They know that if it does pass, it won’t affect them because (like most “rich”) their wealth acquisition is not counted as income (deferred and cashed in only to fund cost-of-living).

Of course wealth won’t be taxed, for the same reason it isn’t taxed: the peons have income; the elite have investments. Ergo income gets taxed.
