Yup, the old “I used to love Michele Bachmann” cliches until she made Rick Perry look like a litte girl. If he’s such a genuis, why didn’t he stand up to her and refute her accusations? Instead, he looked like the eternal deer in the headlights. For some of us on FR, that was a real turnoff.

Though the following paraphrase has often been incorrectly attributed to Sun Tzu, IMO it applies to Bachmann...
"when you opponent is destroying herself, don't get in the way..."

I would submit that they both “lost” in this exchange - Perry for not responding very intelligently as you state - and MB for going over the top and over dramatic and for not letting her scored points speak for themselves.

Perry should have simply responded “for someone who supports the biggest crony scam ever - ethanol subsidies - I’m surprised to hear that you are so concerned about it...” — or something like that. But he was not sharp enough or prepared enough to do so.

Disappointing X 2 for both of them IMO.

He didn’t stand up to her because he is a Texas GENTLEMAN. I guess he assumed that she was a lady and was shocked to find out that she was not. It’s a southern thing - men who were raised as gentlemen are still protective of ladies.

Because SOME still think even in this day of equality for women all over the place that if he attacked her back as she did him that he would like like the BULLY. Remember hilllereee and her opposition in the debate for NYC?

I think Perry did an excellent job making his point and still maintaining his professionalism and respect for women.

Some of us on FR think you are a grander wisher than even the Palinwishers.

I and “some on FR” still like Bachmann and think she is a true conservative, but for several reasons, being impulsive being a big one, don’t think she would serve us well as POTUS. MB needs to stay in the House or beat franken for the Senate, where her voice would be very beneficial.

Usually we expect bald faced lies and false accusations of felonies on national television to come from God-hating Leftists not from so-called "conservative Christians".

Yes, Perry is naive. He needs to learn that ALL politicians are vicious liars who will shiv their own mother in the back to snatch power.
