Since Carville was famously wrong about the 2004 election and admitted it, giving credit to W and Rove, he has been sometimes brutally honest about the sorry state of the Dem party. These days he seems to be one of the few honest Dems around. Pat Caddell and Doug Schoen come to mind but the others just keep parroting the talking points lines.
Carville is still a serpent head but I give him an A for honesty.

I’ve always liked Carville. His politics are screwed up but it’s pretty obvious he’s a good guy. He heads a polling and research team called Democracy Corps that has proven very willing to speak inconvenient truths to the Democrats. A couple years ago they did study of conservatives’ attitudes towards Obama and their message coming out of that was basically “Hey Democrats, you better be careful about calling these people racists, because they’re not”.
