Something about Michele Bachmann’s video has been bugging me (and Matt Lewis too) ever since I posted it earlier today. Aside from the irresponsible lunacy of issuing a blanket opposition to “any governor or president who mandates a familys healthcare choices and violates the rights of parents on these issues” and scaremongering about a vaccine known to be safe, there’s a word she should use in the video but never does. See if you can spot it:
Whether its Obamacare or Perrycare I oppose any governor or president who mandates a familys healthcare choices and violates the rights of parents on these issues especially if the decision-making process occurs behind closed doors, bypassing legislative action, and favors campaign contributors over families.”
Which GOP candidate has had his state-run health care program linked with ObamaCare? Not Perry, since Texas doesn’t have anything like ObamaCare. No, that would be Mitt Romney. But Bachmann doesn’t use “RomneyCare.” Why? Has she allowed herself to become a stalking horse for Romney? If so, on what grounds?
And then there’s the crony capitalist problem. Bachmann has taken a lot of money from pharma companies. One company stands out.
Meanwhile, Bachman has taken somewhere north of $140,000 from pharmaceutical companies. Those donors include Abbott Labs, Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca, Novartis, Eli Lilly and Bayer. Yet, not a dollar of all that pharma money, from such a wide range of the world’s largest drugmakers, came from Merck. Might Bachmann be going after Merck on behalf of that company’s competitors who also happen to be Bachmann donors?
Why bold GlaxoSmithKline? Because they make the only other viable HPV vaccine on the market, Cervarix.
If it’s fair to levy the “crony capitalism” charge at Perry, then it’s fair to levy the exact same charge at Bachmann, especially after her attacks on Perry.
For the record, I know the “crony capitalism” charge doesn’t apply to Perry and I don’t believe it applies to Bachmann. The stalking horse possibility is definitely in play, though.
Unseasonably cold here. It got down into the 30s the last two nights but its warming back up over the next couple of days.
You guys must be on Al Gore's schedule.
Personally, I think the biggest crony capitalism we see going on right now is Michele Bachmann giving political “contributions” to Mitt Romney in exchange for a VP or other slot in what-she-seems-to-believe-will-be a Mitt Romney presidency.
I know, and I agree. It was Palin and now Bachmann who injected this in to the campaign and now we're faced with it.
This pot calling the kettle balck is hard to take ain’t it?
Quit ya damn crying, ever since Perry announced Bachnuts and Palinnuts and paulnutz has bashed to no end, no mercy.
Whether Michele did the dirty with the pharmas is not half the problem of her impulsiveness, which could be “Biblical” deadly in Oval Office.
It sure looks like she’s peddling for the Mutt VP slot, at least she’s smart enough to know she won’t be #1 on any ticket.
Well she DID work for Jimmuh Caaata at one point!
Yeah, her and Pawlenty both. sad.
We’re not faced with it if we reject it. I reject it. It’s bull sh*t. I’m fighting socialism, not working for campaign finance reform.
In November of 2009, when Rep. Bachmann called for the Tea Party to rally in Washington against Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and the passage of Obamacare, when the only power we had was the power of our presence and our voices,
Where the He11 were You?
The crusading pioneer of 12 year old girl’s took money from a company that produces and sales the same mental retardation producing vaccine. Moral high ground, I think not.
And just so happens to be a competitor of the one company that didn’t donate to her campaign. Hey, if she can toss out wild accussation with no substantiation then we can all speculate about her motives and if she was bought off to go after one of their competitors. That does seem to be all some Freepers care about these days. Not proof certainly...just association is enough to indict.
I was on the beach in Palmetto. And you?
You mean the rally she called after Glenn beck’s rally to advance her own political power? Yes, I remember it well and I hated when she did that. The Tea Party was supposed to be apolitical and detached from Washington. The very last thing it needed was her co-opting it for her own advancement and making it seem like a Republican astroturfed movement which the movement at that time was fighting in the press.
"The Enhanced Bachmann Technique". :)
Maybe Michele isn’t cooked long enough yet, but Perry? Why he has cooked too long.
Michele has never attempted to force her will on the people. Perry cannot make that statement.
See post 29.
Where the fork were you?
(Sorry for the typo.)
But I do question if Wikipedia (presuming that's what you meant by "wiki") is considered a credible source here on Free Republic.
Note that even left-leaning academics will not accept Wikipedia as a primary source. They typically note that is is a good place to start to find more primary sources, but is no substitute for good old-fashioned personal research.
She has a mouth diarrhea/not electable problem.
Uh Huh. Anything else you want to say?
