... During the debate, Perry called the use of an executive order a mistake, but said he stood by his support for the vaccine. He reiterated that position on Wednesday, and described his personal connection to the fight against cancer. I hate this disease that impacted my family. My mom and my dad are both cancer survivors, Perry said. And to see young ladies who have died from cervical cancer -- I sat on the side of a bed of a young lady, and she was dying from cervical cancer. And it had an impact on me. ...

It never helps when people use the term HPV. HPV is the human papilloma virus. It is very common, it is not new. HPV sites in the skin and mucous membranes. HPV is what causes warts. Any warts. Ever have warts? Most people do have warts at some point in their lives, and it is likely that all persons beyond a certain age have some HPV somewhere in their body.
Only a subset of HPV’s cause genital warts, and only a subset of genital warts can become cervical cancer. Further the touted vaccines only work on some but not all of the few HPVs that are known to POSSIBLY cause cervical cancer.
Cancerous cells when formed are best fought by the body’s natural defense mechanisms. Many of those general defense mechanisms are compromised, weakened by promiscuous sexuality, in ways not directly related to any HPV contagion.
Even in the types of warts in the genital area caused by the type of HPVs which can POSSIBLY develop into cervical cancer, most warts never do so.
Reason, full clear information rationally presented to be understandable without provoking short-cutting emotional reactions are the hallmarks of good public health policy.
Hyperbole, fear-mongering, loose-goosey conflations of infection and disease vectors, panic — these are hallmarks of bad public health policy.
There’s no vaccine for evil.
Excepting a morally-lived, G-d fearing life, humility and honesty.
Those things FAR MORE effective at stopping the plague of STD induced deaths and illnesses.
One typo blows yo pore little paulnut mind? Ever look at the keyboard, s and a are not difficult to typo. Speaks volumes when ONE letter wrecks yer whole day, yer’s not mine.
See you hang on Palin’s skirt all the while flippin out from having to use a ronpaul fishing pole gene pool way of thinking. Its really too bad you PDS junkies can’t face facts.
The only people in Texas who don’t think Perry is a conservative, not saying a PERFECT conservative, are paulnutz or dems. Just can not get over your lil Deb doing the ronpaul Truther harikari at the debate.
When Palin keeps being a no-show and bachmann drops out, who ya gonna hide behind, Mutt or JonBoy?
so_real, as I recall, the question you posed initially was as between Bachmann and Perry, but we have no way of knowing that that is going to be our option when either the primary or general election comes. Obviously, I will vote in November ‘12 for whoever wins the GOP nomination. It may or may not be Perry, but I seriously doubt it will be Bachmann.
I will say this: I have been shocked and disappointed with how Michelle Bachmann has run her campaign. I’d donated modestly to her Congressional campaign going back I think either to her first or second run for Congress. In the past few months, and especially since the IA Straw Poll, she’s just made one dumb mistake after the other; then this past week she got uber nasty in the debate. I REALLY don’t like that. She went on to compound that by being stupid to the point of embarrassment for someone who seems to think she’s qualified after two whole terms in Congress for the most important job in the entire world. So it’s safe to say I won’t be voting for her in the primary, if that is what you are really getting at.
As to Perry, I really don’t know yet. He has a substantial, if flawed, record. They all do in one way or another. An EO with an opt-out provision is not, to me, a disqualifier. Some other issues that I have to research further might do that. But, since the only child of mine, now an adult, is an Army vet who’s talking about going back into the Reserves, it’s important to me that we have a highly qualified CinC, and on that score I would trust Perry making decisions affecting my child.
I never have sought perfection in elected officials, just their best efforts on behalf of their constituents.
I hope that answers your questions.
SANEVax: Heart Broken Moms Offended By AAP Statements on Merck Gardasil
Open Letter to Dr. O. Marion Burton, president, American Academy of Pediatrics
Re: Heart-broken moms offended by statements of AAP on Gardasil®
September 16, 2011
Dear Dr. Burton:
On behalf of the thousands of parents who have either lost their perfectly healthy teenage daughters, or been left to endure the physical/mental/emotional and financial hardship of being forced to deal with the permanent disabling effects of Gardasil® vaccination, SANE Vax Inc. is offended by the thoughtless, ignorant and offensive press release issued from the office of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) on September 13, 2011.
The press release criticizes the comment made by Republican presidential candidate, Michele Bachmann regarding Gardasil® side effects as false statements; and instead stated authoritatively it (Gardasil®) has an excellent safety record.
Are you still practicing pediatrics? Physicians in the U.S. look to the AAP for guidelines yet the AAP seems to be oblivious to the latest Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System. VAERS statistics clearly show that HPV Vaccines, Gardasil and Cervarix, have been associated with 22, 619 adverse reactions; 8,926 of those reports requiring emergency hospitalization; and 4,616 cases where the victim did not recover. Death reports stand at 102.
