Perry Says Bachmann Wrong on HPV Vaccine Claims
National Journal ^ | September 14, 2011 | Rebecca Kaplan

... During the debate, Perry called the use of an executive order a mistake, but said he stood by his support for the vaccine. He reiterated that position on Wednesday, and described his personal connection to the fight against cancer. “I hate this disease that impacted my family. My mom and my dad are both cancer survivors,” Perry said. “And to see young ladies who have died from cervical cancer -- I sat on the side of a bed of a young lady, and she was dying from cervical cancer. And it had an impact on me.” ...

I will go further and say I do not want my politicians worried about cancer. Let the doctors worry about that. I want elected officials to worry about Islamic terrorism and do their job to protect this country against our crazed enemies.

When picking the lesser of two evils, one always discovers too late that evil was picked. I too hope tis election is not decided based on "whocanwinism". I like that term.

Correct and most importsntly, the impulsive speak before knowing the facts style, is why she would be dangerous in the most powerful position in the world.

A good point. miss marmelstein reminded me of the same. Good intentions pave both roads.

“increasingly disillusioned with Perry”, You’ll get bumps on your tongue! When will you become disillusioned with the lil Martian?

Oh, come on, Marty. I like you so much - why are you buying that one-dead-every-minute stuff?

I lived through the AIDS crisis in NYC and we were told - every bloody day - that it was going to break out into the general population and we were all at risk. So give us money, give us money! And we did. And what happened? Nothing. All it got us was excellent drugs that have allowed gay men to continue their horrible and destructive lifestyle.

Misdiagnosed ... I just read that in Marty62's article too. It would be interesting to know if the correct diagnoses was likely to have saved her life.

You know, I sometimes might misspell a word, my grammar is not perfect. But for the life of me I cannot understand what you just wrote.

I'm thinking it's something about Bachmann? Perhaps you made a mistake in your typing? But to you, a mistake is not forgivable. However, what Perry did with that EO was no mistake, it was on on-purpose.

HPV is linked to Head and Neck Cancer that kills one American every hour.
Sorry sometimes a lose ALOT in translation.

Here is the report:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032619/ns/nightly_news/#44542589

This HPV is sexually transmitted. That is why they need for children to receive it before they become sexually active. The other miserable thing about this is that 11 years old is the age they think children are still virginal.

Let us not forget that Bubba CLINTON is the one that TAUGHT our young people that ORAL SEX was A-OK. F’ing Dums.

Sorry for the bad word. ;-)

If he really felt like this vaccine was important then why did he drop the whole thing instead of fighting to get it passed in the legislator again. Sounds fishy to me. Does he really fight for what he believes??????

From her statements it seems by the time they figured out what was wrong the cervical cancer did not respond to treatments.

“HPV vaccine only protects one kind of virus....”

Actually 4 and the 4 that make up 70% of cervical cancer causation. Let’s keep it honest folks.

Her point was that if the Vaccine had been available to her, it possibly could have prevented her from the type of Cancer she had.

From what I am getting from all of this is that EVEN DOCs are not as aware as they should be on the dangers of HPV.

She was just trying to warn others and maybe save a few lives.

I use “effen” - that’s the way some playwrights write it, lol.

My grandmother died of cervical cancer at 36. I never knew her and I’m somewhat upset over the comments about how terrible the end is. My father never spoke about it and now I’m concerned that she died in terrible pain.

That said, I think parents need to protect and spook their kids into celibacy as my parents did with me. It can be done!

Instead of a vaccine at 12 years old, who not the old venereal disease movies of the 1930s? Talk about scared straight!

I agree, kids don’t need to be involved in Sexual activity. And the schools certainly have no busines promoting this behavour.
I remember when having sex while in school was a real Rep killer.

The vaccine might be the greatest thing since peas but it’s none of the government business whether or not I give my kids peas.

It was factual, plain and unadorned statement, all true.

GARDASIL should be administered intramuscularly in the deltoid region of the upper arm or in the higher anterolateral area of the thigh.

Oh, gee, that's from the Merck website. I don't see anything about "into the veins of the 12 year old virgin daughter of parents who refuse to allow it."

I live in TX, there was lots of discussion about it amongst Texas Freepers on our board. There was an opt out, so no parents would be forced to innoculate their child.

You can get your opinion across without resorting to high drama, exaggerations, and lies.

I wish I had the slightest idea who you were talking about. No candidate running today came close to doing what you claim.

I’m surprised at the number of supposedly sensible people who appear to object to a vaccine that will save lives and save women from a lifetime of infection, simply because they oppose some presidential candidate. I’m guessing when we get a good HIV vaccine, we’ll be fighting over that as well.

Meanwhile, we are spending weeks discussing the addition of a single FDA-approved vaccine to a list of school-required vaccines in one state, an addition that never happened, and explicitly put parents as the final authority, and required the addition of an easy online form for opting out.

Obama and the democrats are certainly pleased that the Economy, the Debt, Jobs, and our National Security are such trivial matters that we will pick our next candidate based on an argument over whether an opt-out was sufficient, and over competing claims of the efficacy of an approved vaccine that saves lives.

I assume that by next week, we will see petitions in all 50 states by these conservatives who are all so concerned about “forcing” parents to get vaccines for their kids, trying to repeal the mandatory vaccination laws in all the states. I’ve never seen it before, but apparently mandatory vaccinations with opt-out are the biggest threat to our society that we’ve ever faced.
