Perry Says Bachmann Wrong on HPV Vaccine Claims
National Journal ^ | September 14, 2011 | Rebecca Kaplan

... During the debate, Perry called the use of an executive order a mistake, but said he stood by his support for the vaccine. He reiterated that position on Wednesday, and described his personal connection to the fight against cancer. “I hate this disease that impacted my family. My mom and my dad are both cancer survivors,” Perry said. “And to see young ladies who have died from cervical cancer -- I sat on the side of a bed of a young lady, and she was dying from cervical cancer. And it had an impact on me.” ...

Forcing vaccination when there IS credible evidence that it’s harmful is eugenicist tyranny.

Having lived under Bloomberg’s endless and illegal occupation of Gracie Mansion, I am really, really tired of pols who have their hearts in the right place. I want them out of my life and out of my town. There is no place for sentimentality in either American life or politics.

It was factual, plain and unadorned statement, all true.

What specific part did you take exception with? Let me know if YOU are honest and not being “hyperbolic”.

HPV vaccine only protects one kind of virus, there are several that cause cervical cancer. There HAVE been deaths and serious injuries attributed to this vaccine. There are acceptable risks with all vaccines,

‘Is your daughter an ‘acceptable risk?’

We’re the party of Whocanwinism. We’ll always nominate losers like Bush, McCain, Dole, etc as long as the party elites keep pushing the “who can win” doctrine.

You are a forgiving soul. And you're probably right - Perry is a decent guy, as was Bush.

But God save us from politicians with good intentions, IMO.

The article I read yesterday from ABC News specifically stated Heather's own words, "I beg mothers out there to please research, please find out all you can about the vaccination before you make up your mind." She is right, and she certainly stated nothing about the vaccination being mandated.

I'm sure everyone feels terrible that this young woman died in the prime of her life of such a terrible disease. But the problem here was certainly not about whether a vaccination would have saved her, but more about her being "misdiagnosed."

You have reminded me that I've said that very thing on more than one occasion. Is government the right place for emotional decision making? Interesting point.

NO evidence. Merck’s lawyers will be calling you soon.

I’m sure they have already sent Bachmann a letter to put up or shut up.
Plus I’ll wager the FDA wants the NAME of the woman that claimed her child became Mentally Retarded because of the drug.

Big Pharma doesn’t turn the other cheek.

“A man who will force a wart vaccine into the veins of the 12 year old virgin daughter of parents who refuse to allow it will be a......”

Amen! This is what we’re talking about here. This is very, very, very scary. Even scarier that Freepers are okay with it and willing to assassinate a good conservative over the issue.

“We have to decide, are we the party of the country club cronies as the left portrays us? Or are we the party of We the People as we claim. This election will decide it.”

Very well put.

When many of us talk about `liberty,’ we’re not talking so much about the freedom to do something (speak, congregate, own firearms, etc.) so much as the right to tell government—state, federal and local—from time-to-time to stay the h*** out of our lives.

The story reminds me of what John Edwards might say. This is that type of stuff that’d come from the mouth of someone who says “And the bottom line is it doesn’t make any difference what the sound of your last name is.”

Perry admitts he used the wrong process, but will not his motivation.

You would think people had learned a lesson from the AIDS epedimic.

NBC had a seg on HPV;
might want to check it out.
Hope we can cut this off at the pass.
It kills one American every hour.

In the past few days I have seen that there are scarier things than both awaiting us all, but still we have to deal with these older ones currently on top of the table.

I do not know if Perry would be good to fight some of these, but I do know he will make others worse - as would a Christie, a Bloomberg, an Obama. All sharing the same problem in that regard. They think they know better than other responsible adults and are willing and happy to make their thinking on things into fierce law by dictate.

No ... simple answer :-) Having looked at the declining incident cervical cancer statistics in the face of rising HPV spread, I would not take the risk myself or visit it upon anyone's children. I don't feel comfortable that we have all the facts straight yet.
