Hi there
I live in Samoa, and last week we had a 6.4, we get earthquakes all the time, but this one was fun, about 10.30 pm and the whole house starts rocking and rolling, when you get so many tremors you tend to ignore them. One thing i have noticed however, the bigger ones come in two stages, the first tremors last about 30 secs and dwindle off, but if a second wave comes then that is when you gotta be careful, like the one from the Tsunami 2009,because it builds and when the house starts to move you wonder, is this the one ?
ps. I should add our family land is about 5km from the rim of the top of a dormant volcano, maybe not a good idea to have land here, ya think???? Last eruption was on a neighbouring island about 100 years ago, hey but nothing is guaranteed in life. I remember that guy that fled Canada in the late 70’s with his family because he was scared of Nuclear war, he chose the most unihabited english speaking place in the world, the Falkland Islands!!!!! yeah Good Choice.
