No. Alaska didn’t have to mandate it. Alaska accepted federal funds and the feds mandated it. It wasn’t an Alaska law. The difference in Texas and Alaska on this thing is that Texas governor intervened and said, hey, wait a minute, parents need to be able to opt out for more than just religious convictions. So Perry didn’t take the federal funds, instead Texas had to fund it themselves, and in so doing he was able to make it available with an OPT OUT.
Funds were accepted and it was made available...not mandated ...that is the language. Give it up.
Funny, but when I google Palin gardasil mandate just about every link goes back to the discussions on FR. However, isn’t the impropriety that Perry took money from Merck, had a chief of staff who became a lobbyist for said corporation (thus the revolving door between corporations/government). What should be the watermark? Going from chief of staff to lobbyist gives you certain access others wouldn’t get. I can’t find any evidence that there was that kind of incestuous relationship between Palin/Merck.
