Palin even went as far as to lend her voice to the charge leveled by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) during the debate against Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R): That he allowed a law to go though requiring HPV vaccinations for adolescent girls because of a $5,000 campaign donation and his relationship with his former chief of staff, who went on to lobby for a pharmaceutical company.

Excuse me. YOU said she mandated ... and YOU are attempting to play me for an uneducated idiot. Given the 'native' peoples of Alaska I would have to be convinced she could have stopped anything the Feds dictate.
ALLLL of which is a far cry from what Perry did. Which is the point he executed a mandate and collected 5 grand.
Just, the facts are there. Alaskan children were mandated, under Palin’s watch as governor, to take the Gardasil vaccine.
Funds were accepted and it was made available...not mandated ...that is the language. Give it up.
I find it odd that Palin says in the interview that she was leery of Perry, when Gov of AK, with the HPV issue, yet endorsed him after she got out of office. I would like some more clarification on that.
Do you really want me to tell you how much palin received from Merck? That info is out there, too.
It doesn’t to me. He raised $39,328,540 for his last election. he raised over $20M in 2006. Do you think $5K would buy him, seriously? $5K couldn’t even buy me, and I am cheap with zero influence.
I could not find a mandate for Alaska in 2007 according to this report: HPV Vaccine: State Legislation and Statutes
http://www.ncsl.org/default.aspx?tabid=14381
Like I said...there is none...he's reading his own agenda into the legislation...
I have NO problem with 'truth', but YOU are having a real problem in presenting the truth. The issue is NOT about the quality of the vaccine.
The issue is the character of Governor Perry. How he used his authority as governor. Sarah did NOT collect money for her campaign after any mandate she executed. Now that may well be business as usual in Texas and WDC but we are BROKE. We do not need business as usual.
AND I have my own issues in determining if Sarah has learned her lesson as to who she will allow to climb up into her chariot. She campaigned for Perry, he said he was NOT running for president. And then oh my he is going to 'save' US.
I am from Missouri, and it is very true about 'SHOW ME' don't deceive me.
That is a lie.
“So we should just shut up?”
no we shouldn’t shut up but when you try to take someone down with all kinds of unproven personal accusations, you’re just helping Obama.
And what about his chief of staff that was doing the lobbying? HE executed a mandate bought or NOT and that is what the drug company wanted.
Are you referring to Alaska getting federal funds in 2007 to give all Alaskan girls this vaccine? I saw this government announcement (below).
It looks like the biggest difference is that Texas used private funds (insurance companies) to fund the vaccines while Alaska got federal tax payer money to fund the vaccinations of girls. Am I reading that correctly?

That was before she was green with envy and faced with losing her relevance.
“The issue is the character of Governor Perry. How he used his authority as governor.”
oh my goodness...he helped protect poor kids from getting cancer. So terrible.
Folks, this is not an issue.
Oh, well if the issue is Perry’s character, I’m not going to try to defend him. He’s a good man. Think what you will on that.
Funny, but when I google Palin gardasil mandate just about every link goes back to the discussions on FR. However, isn’t the impropriety that Perry took money from Merck, had a chief of staff who became a lobbyist for said corporation (thus the revolving door between corporations/government). What should be the watermark? Going from chief of staff to lobbyist gives you certain access others wouldn’t get. I can’t find any evidence that there was that kind of incestuous relationship between Palin/Merck.
Cindie
What’s a lie?
She did seem a little bitter in that interview. The way she rolled off her past accomplishments and railed against Perry, one thought that she felt left behind from being on the big stage tonight.
Yes. Exactly. Texas didn’t use federal funds so we could have an opt out, parental choice, and insurance would pay for it. However, the Texas legislature said no way, and Perry didn’t veto them but let them win. So no vaccine paid for by insurance here.
