Here's what some of that was about too, - Medicaid would not pay for the vaccine unless it was mandated in our state. So the promiscuous, cancer prone girls in TX are really the poor, illegals etc who are all on Medicaid. So that was part of the reason for Perry to mandate it. But there was always an opt out for any parents. Anyway Perry backed down when the people got upset about it.
I suspect that a mandate requiring Gardasil except when opting out made it covered by insurance for all who took it...
Who the hell is the government to tell me I can opt out or opt in when it comes to my kids?
Perry's mandate was a big mistake when it comes to freedom and he should take a substantial beating for it.
