Newt just knew that she was on before so he wanted to butter her up. Be honest, you think if someone had interviewed Newt this afternoon he would have even brought up her speech?
I don’t think Newt was trying to butter Palin up. He does not need to, in any way. If he wanted to be dismissive of her, he would have been—you know like Rove would have done.
No, instead hew as very deliberate in his choice of words and you could see the admiration for her speech in what he said. Intellectually, he was acknowledging someone for their intellectual prowess.
