” The TX Dream Act only gives tuition to someone who graduated from a TX high school and has been here for 3 years. IOW, kids who were brought here by their parents at no fault of their own. Perry wasnt clear enough on that.”
There you go. Exactly correct. Wish he had time, of course, to detail. I think he is stringing beads, one at a time, but eventually he will get it done and put the clasp on which usually closes the subject. Perry is methodical.
One person's methodical is another person's slow.
:)
I don’t think it’s so much that, but it’s that a program like that makes others want to take advantage of it. So more will come in and say “well, if we can sneak in and stick around for 3 years we get the benefits”. It makes it harder because more people will sneak into other states and then say “well, look what they did in TX, why don’t you do it here?”. It makes it harder for Govs in other states to resist. Especially if Perry wins the nomination. Imagine Obama saying “Look, even the GOP nominee supported the Dream act on the state level, if it’s good enough for TX it’s good enough for the US”.
I think those are the bigger issues. It just adds incentives to continue illegal immigration.
We need to do everything we can to discourage it. Say “you will get no benefits, none”.
