Was there any photograph that did more to show the courage of the Bravest on that day?
Ladder 118 - six men of courage - captured as they head at speed across the Brooklyn Bridge and into the inferno with the blazing towers of the World Trade Center loomed clearly across the river.
That instant - the final run of Ladder 118, captured by amateur photographer Aaron McLamb still serves as an inspiration and a comfort to the dead men's loved ones 10 years later.
"He knew what was ahead, he knew what he was getting into, and he still went," said VinnieCarla Agnello, whose husband, Joey, rode the ill-fated rig.

I’d wager most of those men had no idea how much heroism was inside them when they got out of bed that morning. God bless them and their families.
The duty board remains untouched from that Tuesday a decade ago, six names still scrawled in white chalk next to their assignments.
For some reason, that's the line that tore me up. Wow.
