Perry should have turned it around on the smarmy bastard and asked him what connection there could be between lawful executions of convicted murderers and sleeping well.

And then pursued it, and made Williams explain himself fully.

Couldnt agree more. Romney and Gingrich were trouncing Perry until MSNBC walked right into a left hook with the death penalty question as time was running out saving Perry. Brian Williams is the one who cannot sleep tonight. (no. I am not a Romney fan).

I have just watched the debate (time zones mean record it or not be able to work in the morning, and work is a tad more important!).

Perry wasn't bad at all. Gingrich, I agree, was knocking them out of the park at every opportunity and was rather impressive. But, he is far more used to debates, off the cuff remarks, presenting his postion clearly and concisely with minimal room for an attacker and just general discussion.

Perry is not - yet. I am gonna say cautiously pleased by Perry's performance last night.

I think you make a good point - I believe in the Casey Anthony case the death penalty should never have been put on the table (although she deserved it!) If the jurors knew she wasn’t going to die (you know, after 30 years on death row), maybe they would have convicted.

{Have you struggled to sleep at night?]

Brian, do you struggle to stay awake during questioning?

Yes he does. It’s called a TEXAS DRAWL.

So you’ll be voting for ZERO?

I know what you’re talking about. I was at Perry rally last year and when he started talking he was awkward.

One minute in people were standing and cheering, kids were standing in their seats yelling. A minute later some of the adults were standing in the seats cheering and yelling.

He projects the image of a real leader who speaks from his heart, and I think he is all of that. And people really respond.

I highly recommend going to a Perry rally. It is quite interesting to see it play out.

Very, very high energy and exciting.

“I bet my horse Jack would drink beer.”

My experience is that horses named Jack are trouble. Spurs and and a firm hand. And all of them would be looking for a good havana cigar after they had drained their keg of lowenbrau.

This is the one thing Perry did right in this debate.

He KILLED with that answer!

If only he’d been as good on SS.

Nicely handled by Perry. Reminds me of what Ron “Tater Salad” White said about this issue:

“If you kill someone in the State of Texas, we will kill you back.”

What I find hilarious is that no reporter ever asks a Supreme Court Justice, not even the conservative ones, whether they have trouble sleeping at night over the hundreds of death penalty cases the court handles. Why? Because Supreme Court Justices aren’t running for President!

“Mr. Williams, ask your Mom how I sleep at night...”
That would be the response I’d love to hear.

That’s a new one. Chewing tobacco. Jack’s quite a character. I call him a “Hoover” when it comes to eating horse treats and carrots.

Not closed minded, just decisive. Sarah Palin or Newt G. Maybe even Romney. Nobody who supports amnesty or perks for illegals.
