Excerpted from: "Texas Gov. Orders Anti-Cancer Vaccine" By LIZ AUSTIN PETERSON
The Associated Press
Saturday, February 3, 2007; 4:33 AM ' "By using an executive order that bypassed the Legislature, Republican Gov. Rick Perry _ himself a conservative _ on Friday avoided such opposition, making Texas the first state to mandate that schoolgirls get vaccinated against the virus. Beginning in September 2008, girls entering the sixth grade will have to receive Gardasil, Merck & Co.'s new vaccine against strains of the human papillomavirus, or HPV. Perry also directed state health authorities to make the vaccine available free to girls 9 to 18 who are uninsured or whose insurance does not cover vaccines. In addition, he ordered that Medicaid offer Gardasil to women ages 19 to 21."
Oh my gosh, if I hear from Ron Paul another minute I’ll scream!
Seems he answered pretty well
Give it a rest. It’s been thoroughly explained and it is a dead issue. Perry “listened” and saw he was wrong.
Did you mean to leave out the fact that there was an opt-out option or does that just not fit in with your agenda?
The Vaccines for Children program made the vaccine free of charge to Medicaid, CHIPS, any girl not covered by insurance or whose insurance did not cover vaccines.
I wonder why your announcement covered 1-3 of the EO, but not the 4th paragraph, which made it easier to opt out of vaccines by making the request for the official paperwork available over the internet?
