He did write a letter in support of HCare ;( He just admitted it.
OK, people. You have two minutes to read 200 posts!
He wrote a letter to Hillary telling her not to messs things up for his constituents. How is that “supporting Hillarycare”? He did not say what you said he said.
Are you kidding or dishonest?
No he did not write a letter to support HillaryCare and did not say that he did.
Jane, I read Rick Perry had written a letter of encouragement to HC when she was just appointed and before any committee had come up with anything. He offered support of her as a person up to the job and hoped she would do the right thing for our country. It was hospitable but generic, certainly not an endorsement for any policies since none were even in the works when his letter to her was written and sent.
No, he commended her effort in April, before we even knew about the closed door meetings with insurance execs. This was long before the hearings and outline of the plan in August, 1993. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/forum/may96/background/health_debate_page1.html
We did know that she had an unprecedented power. Then-Agricultural Commissioner Perry asked her to remember his constituency and to call if he could help.
