We’ve seen this image before: Barack Obama putting the final touches on an important economic speech calling for stimulus spending, job creation, infrastructure investment, assistance to those hit by the housing crisis and an extension of unemployment benefits.

As the president prepares to deliver a pivotal address to a joint session of Congress on Thursday, it seems like a replay of the economic agenda he outlined when seeking the Democratic nomination.

The word is that Obama’s speech is going to be more of the usual claptrap.

He's a one trick pony. It can't be anything but. Let me be clear. Make no mistake. The teleprompter head wag. Infrastructure bank = shovel ready jobs. Investment = thievery (from the taxpayers), money laundering ("investment" for unions converted to union dues), and kickbacks (union dues to campaign contributions for the One). Blah. Blah. Blah.

If Obama wants to exgend u/e benefits, then rename them “welfare” at a certain point. There’s enough negative stereotype associated with welfare that half would not want to suffer the shame and go out and get ANY job. Not a PC post, but likely fact.

as in "Obama DIVOTS on jobs"

I must say it’s interesting to see how the liberals are turning on Obama. This speech may be as much about trying to keep the liberals enthused about his re-election as really trying to develop a new jobs policy.

Primarily the speech and give aways are so he can blame the R controlled congress as the cause of all our problems cause they will not spend the money he is proposing.

I have been asking people how much longer should Obama extend unemployment checks they have already had 99 weeks, almost two years, to find a job. How much longer should we give them money? another 2 years, how about we be compassionate and extend or another 5 years? Why not 10?

As far as the independent vote goes, The Republicans get a twofer from the President’s joint session speech. Independents can watch Obama present his stimulus plan which they are on record as polled opposing and watch Dem Congresscritters cheer every line of the stimulus speech. If I were Boehner I would invite Obama to speak every day to the joint session on the principle that when your opponent is busy digging a deeper ditch, you do not take the shovel away

An excellent idea.

If I could Photoshop, I'd put Odumbo in place of Elmer.
