Michele Bachmann: Why do we need a Department of Education, anyway?

This should be left up to the states! Some will do it better than others, but it is my belief that all of them will do it better than the federal government. As others have stated, the closer the control is to the students and parents, the better the outcome. We need to restore the power of the states, and remove some of the power of the federal government.

I agree, but what bothers me is that some people won’t understand what getting rid of the Federal Department of Education means.

They might think it means getting rid of education altogether, and not giving the freedom and responsibility to their state, plus saving a lot of money, and improving their children’s education, which is supposed to be what education is about.
