No matter what her excuses, she did not have to resign. There was no gun to her head. She just up and quit.

Therein lies the problem with the mertican political system. We're unaccustomed to politicians who have an ounce of character and ethics. Gov. Palin didn't "just up and quit", she resigned her post as a matter of concience and honor. Following here introduction on the national stage by Sen. McCain, She became a target of those (Dems) who are terrified that she can defeat the most incompetent POTUS in our history. There was one individual in the state of Alaska who filed suit after suit (all frivolous) and complaint after complaint against her related to every aspect of her political career. In accordance with the laws of the state, each suit and each complaint must be thoroughly investigated to determine if there were any merit to the action. What Gov. Palin did was resign her position as a matter of concience rather than throwing increasing amounts of resources and taxpayer money to fight each of the actions this one individual filed. It was a growing distraction that consumed significant amounts of her time as governor answering official inquiries from the various investigators and kept her from attending to the business she was elected to handle.

Realizing that she was fighting an uphill battle that was encouraged and sponsored by Obama's dirty tricks machine, she took the honorable route and resigned. You might recall from the '08 election that as soon as She became McCain's runni ng mate, Obama sent ~30+ attorneys to Alaska to dig up dirt on her. They walked away with nothing. However, with some spin and a complicit media, they managed to try to make something out of nothing about the state trooper firing and something about banning library books.

Until the truth came out and it was shown that there was no there, there. You mightr want to reconsider your opinion about her.

I think the world of Sarah Palin. She has just about everything — enormous creativity (Mama Grizzlies, death panels), talent, intelligence, conservative pro-life beliefs, integrity, beauty — and a unique ability to connect with crowds.

But I — as a stauch Tea Party conservative — worry about her steadfastness in office. She could have hung in there in Alaska. She was facing only ankle-biter stuff. The threat was not impeachment or indictment or an assassin’s bullet.

Surely the pit bull hockey mom could have swatted off a few pesky flies.
