Why would it hurt the Republican party? The process is open to anyone who wishes to partake—even Ron Paul.

I don't see how it could. Unless she were to win the nomination, that is.

Exactly, and that brings us to the point that as much as some want to poo poo the polls, they are consistent and the likelihood of Palin ever becoming president are extremely low.

It is not in her best interest to run but polls show she will have little impact on the primary results. Of course, that could change but for Palin there is little encouragement that her numbers can rise much because she is already well known.
