Everytime you had hurricanes in Florida, I sympathized with Florida residents. I supported hurricane threads then and wouldn't have thought of criticizing them.

I think you are missing the point.
No one is saying that Hurricanes are not serious. But when they hit FLA you get 5-10 minutes on the news, every cycle.
The local TV stations are wall to wall, and that is fine and to be expected. BUT, the national news services are acting like a bunch of little babies. The is no reason for CNN and Fox to be wall to wall, except that it is impacting THEM personally.
They should dial it back and let the rest of the world know what is going on elsewhere.
