I'm not Perry supporter (yet). However, this kind of logic reminds me of the global warming argument. If the temperature is too cold, that's because of global warming. If it's too hot, that's because of global warming. If Perry is attacked by the MSM, that's because they want him to win. If Perry is praised by the MSM, that's because they want him to win.
Ah, but you see? That's the beauty of conspiracy theories - literally everything is evidence that they are true. One thing happens? We told ya so. The opposite thing happens? We told ya so. Even when there's no evidence, it just serves as proof that the conspirators are covering their tracks, and are therefore conspiring, so therefore it is evidence for the theory.
It is positively impossible to disprove any of these conspiracy theories because everything, by definition, is proof FOR them.

It's no conspiracy theory. Think about it for a moment. Who does the LA Times intend to influence with such a story? There's not a lefty or a left-leaner who would ever consider voting for Perry, so there's no point in publishing it at all to influence them.
