APNewsBreak: Perry bills feds for housing illegals

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Texas Gov. Rick Perry has asked the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for nearly $350 million to cover the costs incurred detaining illegal immigrants in state prisons and county jails. In a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, Perry criticized the federal government hasn't been doing enough to secure the border with Mexico, thereby allowing illegal immigrants to enter the U.S. and use taxpayer-funded resources, including prisons and jails. It's a claim the Republican governor has made many times before.

The letter was dated Aug. 10, three days before Perry formally announced he is running for president.

We must elect him first to find out exactly where he stands.!

Hey, it worked for the Budget too!

I'm sick of all this second guessing on Conservatism.
Conservatism is what it is, and there isn't RINO in Conservatism.

Actually, they won’t be living on “los freebies” anymore. Perry signed a new law at the end of the last session that now brings illegals in our prisons out of the prison system for deportation. Of course, his haters on this site will begin screaming he’s parolling illegals early. But they will now be deported, straight from prison to Ole Mehico, saving our state $250,000,000, presumably per year.

“OK, you anti-Perry types, he isn’t perfect, but you gotta like this. “

The guy has got game.

She’s going to announce her support for Perry in September.

She’s for a border fence? In Alaska? Didn’t realize they had such a problem with illegals. Because I know she’s not for a border fence in Texas. She has enough sense to know that Texans do not want to be walled off from the Rio Grand River for NO GOOD REASON, starving those farmers’ crops and animals of water, destroying Big Bend, etc., etc., etc. She also knows, surely, that the illegals that enter Texas do it near civilizations so they do not DIE in the middle of nowhere — near civilizations that, thanks to Rick Perry, all have BORDER FENCES. Duh.

No, dear. He’s done it from Day 1. It’s just that NOW people are talking about it...because he’s such a hot candidate right now. Think.

That’s funny you say that about Perry. I have known him all my life and was talking to my mother about what people are saying about him lately. She said, “You know, that’s one thing about Rick. He will always say what he means and mean what he says.” I know he has made some calls that people don’t like, but I also know there is more to the story than is being told about them, and what he has done for Texas (and learned in Texas) is exactly what we need to get our country back. You’re definitely entitled to your opinion and candidate, but I just wanted to throw that in there.

I personally will not vote for another candidate that has supported, aided and abetted, and given legitimacy to organizations who support amnesty and are 100 percent in support of illegal aliens.

When you get into the voting booth next November, if the Choice is Perry or Obama or writing in a loon like Ron Paul, what will you do?

I thought the above was pretty clear. Read it real slow once again. I will sit home and drink a beer before I get conned, hoodwinked and lied to again. I'm not going to be party to that. I hope that's clear enough for ya. If not, read it several more times.

Show me some proof. I can't find any. According to article I've read Jan Brewer was the first earlier this year.

collecting would be simple if someone had the balls to do it, just assess a payroll tax on ALL FEDERAL EMPLOYEES in the State and attach their personal assets to pay the costs of their ILLEGAL BEHAVIOR.

***giving illegals in-state tuition***

This is false. He is not giving them tuition. They have to pay for it - it’s just that they pay in-state rates vs. out-of-state rates.

***It would be a lot more impressive if he had been protecting the border and billing the feds for that.***

Why should Texas do the job the FedGov is mandated to do by the Constitution (provide for the common defense according to Article I, Section 8)? This is one of the few things the FedGov is actually *supposed* to do, but they have been negligent. Gov. Perry has asked to meet with Bozo on several occasions and he has refused. At one point, Gov. Perry had to intercept him on the tarmac in Austin to talk to him about this problem.

“Gov. Rick Perry’s meeting at the Austin airport with President Barack Obama on border security lasted a mere 34 seconds, and Perry had to hand a letter on the issue to presidential adviser Valerie Jarrett because Obama declined to personally accept it.”

http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local_news/article/Perry-s-tarmac-meeting-with-Obama-lasted-34-784964.php

And by the way, Arizona is trying to build a fence - on their own through donations to the public - because the FedGov is suing them over SB1070! I think Gov. Perry believes he doesn’t have the right to waste Texas’ resources fighting the inevitable lawsuit by the FedGov.

I really don’t care about the little pro perry circle jerk. Frankly you people are so completely without moral courage that you’re unworthy of the least respect.

Go ahead and lie to each other but I don’t want to hear the crap.

Whoa! I did not attack you or say anything rude to you. I merely posted an article refuting your statement. You owe me an apology for your rudeness and foul language.

I know now to henceforth apply the TROLL application to your posts, since you cannot handle civil discourse.

“What’s not to like about a song and dance man? Put him on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour but keep the RHINO out of my government.”

Palin supporter here, but look - you’ve got RINOitis of the brain. Around here, a RINO appears to be anything anybody wants to call it. Therefore I will say that Perry is NOT a RINO, just a manipulative politician.

If Palin doesn’t get in, then guess who is the conservative with the best chance to defeat the @$$h@t in the WH?

Bachmann? - lacks ability to confront the press; one dimensional; already starting to flipflop on the farm subsidies business. Nice lady with great views, but plain and simple not ready for prime time.

Paul? - great if you are or like a kook with a tinfoil hat; the GOPs answer to left-wing wackos. His supporters remind me of “The Night of the Living Dead”.

Romney? Smirks are filling the room.

Cain? Did that massive CAT 5 hurricane drown out his message? Uh, no he disappeared into the woodwork before that. Great views and a nice guy (but they finish last). He failed to get new tires so he lost traction.

Gingrich? Will need to sell Calista’s jewelry to pay for his idiotic campaign debts.

Santorum? Say sanitarium if you or he thinks he has a chance.

Rubio, Ryan, Bush III, Christie, Trump? Get real!

Perry? Pray tell fellow Palin supporters, where ya gonna go if she opts out? Spit it out! Belly up to the bar! $h!t or get off the pot! Plan B?

If Perry would cease educating, feeding, and housing the illegals that alone would stem some of the tide.

He’s such a hypocrite....belly aches to Washington about the border....while he caters to the illegals and invites and welcomes all to come into his state....sucks up the revenue from foreign country investors....then runs to the tax payers asking them to ‘secure’ his border so he can continue “safely” with his agneda to use foreigners as cheap labor for those very country investors he invites in.
