The hype isn’t overblown.
For one thing, it’s pretty much a metaphysical certainty that Coney Island will be completely destroyed.
It’s not just an abandoned amusement park; 50,000 people live there.
You mentioned JFK Airport yesterday. Can you provide more details about that? I found a source indicating elevation of 13ft there. What events are you expecting upon storm arrival?
Prayers up.
Considering I grew up in Brooklyn, I think I’m pretty familiar with what Coney Island is and isn’t. And as a former reporter I also have a good idea of what is and isn’t hype, over blown or not.
I find the national news outlets to be overblown as they often have no clue what they are talking about when they are outside of their rarefied bubbles. I prefer local information and do not mind if they “hype” it as they have a vested interest because these type things affect where they and their families live.
I don’t need some blown dry NY or DC type standing up on Chincoteague Island or in Ocean City MD telling me we’re all gonna die. Give me the guy or gal that actually lives in one of the areas being evacuated who actually knows what he or she is talking about when it comes to the area.
